Former President Trump on Sunday took his latest swipe at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, whose response to the former president’s criticism during the Oscars went viral on social media.  When asked on Fox News’s “MediaBuzz” about his long-time feud with Kimmel, Trump said, “Now look, look, Jimmy Kimmel is every is…every night, he hits me I guess, his ratings are terrible.” “I hear he hits me all the time, so I figured I’d hit him because I thought he was a lousy host,” he continued.  Trump and Kimmel’s long-time back-and-forth was brought to the surface last week when Kimmel responded on…

Lawyer and investor Nicole Shanahan is among the possible contenders for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate, his campaign suggested over the weekend.  In a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter, Kennedy’s campaign director and daughter-in-law, Amaryllis Fox, responded to the swirling rumors Kennedy tapped Shanahan as his running mate, noting Shanahan has been brought up in conversations while declining to reveal Kennedy’s choice.  “Oh boy, this media! They were sure about Aaron, now they’re sure about Nicole. Tomorrow they’ll be sure about somebody else. The truth is, they’re just going to have to wait until we all get to…

In replacing the words “Duty, Honor, Country” with “the Army Values,” the United States Military Academy at West Point has caused a flurry of controversy. Officials from West Point have stated explicitly that “Duty, Honor, Country” remains the motto of the Academy, and fundamental to its mission and its culture. Yet there are those who believe there is something rotten going on. They’ve taken to X to decry wokeness, pandering, Marxism and globalism. A war on the foundation of America’s fighting force. For them, this change is cause for panic, both moral and existential. Forgetting that the mission statement has…

The “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” was passed overwhelmingly in the House last week. The bill would make it unlawful for foreign adversaries — specifically defined to only include the governments of China, Iran, Russia and North Korea — to own or operate an app or website in the United States. The poster child for this bill is TikTok, which is owned by ByteDance, an affiliate of the Chinese government that literally has an internal Chinese Communist Party committee as part of its governance structure. The act is a no-brainer to resolve this issue, because it merely…

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) said he disagreed with former President Trump’s characterization of the Jan. 6, 2021, rioters at the Capitol, saying that he believes in the U.S. judicial system. I don’t believe they’re hostages. I believe in our judicial system, and I believe, though, Martha, as you’ve seen because you reported them, some of these cases have been overturned. Some of the — even the legal construct of the basis of a number of these cases have been overturned,” Turner told co-host Martha Raddatz on ABC’s “This Week.”  “This is going to be, you know, a continuing legal process,…

Lawmakers largely muddied the waters in seeking to capitalize on special counsel Robert Hur’s report on President Biden’s classified records investigation, offering incorrect conclusions about why the president skirted any charges.  National security law experts say members on both sides ignored clear nuances in Hur’s decision not to recommend any charges for Biden, wrongly suggesting charges were declined due only to memory issues or that the report cleared the president entirely. “The feigned ignorance of these folks is overwhelming and undermines their own credibility,” Mark Zaid, a national security law expert, told The Hill, arguing both sides acted to “bolster…

You wouldn’t trust a thief to sell you a home alarm system, or a fox to guard a hen house. So why should we trust cigarette companies to help reduce tobacco use? We shouldn’t, of course. But here we are. For the last several years, the tobacco industry has been co-opting the term “harm reduction” from public health, using it to frame electronic devices and e-cigarettes as the be-all, end-all of smoking cessation tools. And the tobacco industry’s dangerous narrative is poised to pick up steam if it goes uncorrected. Legitimate harm reduction is a crucial public health concept and strategy. In combatting the…

One of the little-noted facts of modern American politics is how much space, NASA and the military are not partisan political issues.  Shortly after he took office, President Joe Biden indicated that he would continue both Project Artemis, the program to send astronauts back to the moon and eventually Mars, and the Space Force, the new military branch charged with operating in space. Since President Donald Trump started both Artemis and the Space Force, Biden’s decision to retain them was met with surprise and delight by many. However, President Biden differs from his predecessor and potential successor in one policy that could…
