Purdue had a two-point lead with six seconds left and a chance to beat Wisconsin in regulation. It had a three-point lead with 45 seconds left in overtime and a chance to eliminate the Badgers then, too. But the top-seeded Boilermakers, which entered Saturday as the No. 1 overall seed in Joe Lunardi’s ESPN bracketology and entered the Big Ten tournament No. 3 in the AP Top 25, blew both leads, suffered a stunning exit in the semifinals and — most likely — lost its chance at earning the top seed. “These guys down the stretch executed to perfection,” Wisconsin…

Netflix? More like Netfli-XXX. The streamer’s new miniseries “Supersex” has been slammed on social media for being extra explicit, with prudish pundits promising to cancelling their subscriptions. The steamy show is loosely based on the life of Rocco Siffredi, a famous porn star known as the “Italian Stallion.” But subscribers were less than impressed when Netflix posted an excerpt of the erotic offering on its US Instagram account on Mar. 7, before it was mysteriously deleted. Screenshots obtained by the Daily Mail show furious commenters blasting the streamer for promoting the porny series. “Are we just making porn mainstream now?…

It’s unlikely that this will play any role in where Shedeur Sanders ends up in the NFL, but if Deion Sanders had to choose, he doesn’t want his son — and Colorado’s quarterback — to play in a cold-weather city. The feds are poking Facebook for possible drug dealing. US prosecutors in Virginia are investigating Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, for playing a role in facilitating illegal drug sales online, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday. They’ve issued subpoenas and begun questioning whether Meta’s social media platforms are enabling and profiting from illicit drug sales, sources told the Journal. Prosecutors have also asked for records related to “violative drug content on Meta’s platforms and/or the illicit sale of drugs via Meta’s platforms,” according to copies of subpoenas delivered last year that were seen by the Journal. When the Penguins emit their death rattle following an ownership decision to become hockey’s cracked version of the Sunshine Boys, I as a student of modern history just wonder how long the arena will become a ghost town like it has been every other time the club was bottoming out, and how long it will before we hear accommodations have to be made to keep the franchise where it is?  Too cynical? Maybe, but I’ve seen it all play out before. Twice. There was Hamilton, Ontario, talk around the days of Mario Lemieux slipping into No. 66, and there was…

Bryan Hearne never became a big star like Amanda Bynes, Ariana Grande or Drake Bell when he was one of many child actors in the Nickelodeon universe that dominated children’s TV in the late ’90s and early aughts. Because of his outspoken mother, he ended up being one of the lucky ones. Hearne, now 35, was let go in 2003 from “All That” — the kids’ sketch series that featured Bynes, Kenan Thompson and others — after two years. A new docuseries premiering Sunday details the toxic culture behind the scenes on many of former Nickelodeon powerhouse writer/producer Dan Schneider’s…

As both the NCAA Tournament, now enriched by six-year “graduate” transfers, and Passover both approach, I’m reminded of first-night Seder meals and the tradition not allowing strangers to dine alone. So one day, a blind man is invited to Seder. As the sheets of matzoh are passed along, he takes one then runs his fingers over it with a curious expression on his face. Finally he says, “Who wrote this junk?” Yes, who? The NCAA Tournament now annually comes attached to endless commercials for Capital One credit cards. They star Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee and occasionally Jim…
