The U.S. government said on Saturday that it is arranging a charter flight from Haiti to the U.S. for those with valid passports. The flight will leave from the Cap-Haitien International Airport, which can only accommodate limited travel amid violence in the country. The State Department instructed citizens and eligible family members interested in traveling to the U.S. to fill out an intake form. Officials warned that the trip from Port-au-Prince, the country’s capital, to Cap-Haitien is “dangerous” and recommended that people consider the flight “only if you believe you can reach Cap-Haitien airport safely.” The government cannot currently provide overland transport to the…

A 750-pound, 11-foot-long alligator named Albert was seized from a New York home this week, setting the stage for a confrontation between the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation and the animal’s self-proclaimed owner. The alligator lived in an in-ground pool in the backyard of owner Tony Cavallaro’s Hamburg, New York home, and has multiple health problems, including blindness in both eyes and spinal complications, officials said. A weekly ski trip for about 50 women from the Denver area turned into an overnight ordeal when their bus got stuck in a snowstorm behind jackknifed semi tractor-trailers on their way back from Vail. The remains of a 18-year-old soldier from West Virginia who fought in the Korean War have been found, more than seven decades after he went missing, a U.S. military agency announced on Friday.  U.S. Army Cpl. Ray K. Lilly, 18, of Matoaka, West Virginia, went missing while his unit was fighting on Nov. 2, 1950. His unit,  L Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division was fighting in Unsan, North Korea, when he disappeared.
