The referees and judges for the two title fights taking place at UFC 296 have now been assigned by the Nevada Athletic Commission
In the main event, Leon Edwards defends his welterweight title against Colby Covington with referee Herb Dean serving as the third man in the octagon. This will be the second consecutive fight where Dean has refereed a fight for Edwards after he was also in the cage on the night the reigning UFC welterweight king defended his belt against Kamaru Usman back in March in his native England.
The judges scoring the UFC 296 main event will be Sal D’amato, Derek Cleary and Chris Lee.
As for the co-main event where Alexandre Pantoja takes on Brandon Royval in a rematch with the UFC flyweight title going up for grabs, Marc Goddard will serve as the referee for that matchup.
Judges scoring the fight will be Ron McCarthy, Junichiro Kamijo, and Eric Colon.
The remainder of the referee and judges assignments for UFC 296 will be handed out on fight night on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
UFC 296 caps off the year for the promotion with the main card kicking off on ESPN+ pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday with the prelims set to begin at 6 p.m. ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
