The Philadelphia spirit is strong with this one.
A young Phillies fan sent a message to Padres supporters with a middle-finger salute for Fox 5 San Diego anchor Julian Del Gaudio on Sunday night outside Citizens Bank Park.
“Well Philly, thanks for the memories,” Del Gaudio wrote on Twitter.
He added, “Gonna miss Philly” on Instagram.
The NLCS reached Philadelphia even at 1-1 on Friday, but the Phillies stormed to three straight wins to punch their ticket to the 2022 World Series. They sealed the series with a dramatic comeback on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 3-2 in the eighth inning, Bryce Harper launched a two-run homer to left field that gave the Phillies the lead for good.

“Pure chaos,’’ first baseman Rhys Hoskins told reporters. “I don’t think anybody was surprised. This guy has a knack for coming up in the biggest moments. It’s just what he’s done his whole career, and we’ve seen it plenty of times. … This guy’s incredible.’’
Phillies fans took to the streets to celebrate their team’s accomplishments with revelers overcoming greased poles to enjoy the evening. The Phillies will take on the Astros in the World Series after Houston swept the Yankees in the ALCS.
“I hit the ball, and I just looked at my dugout and kind of it’s for all of them,” Harper said of the blast after being named NLCS MVP. “It’s for this whole team. It’s for this whole organization.”

With both championship series ending quickly, the two teams will have four days off before the start of the World Series on Friday night in Houston.
