Blending the base-building colony sim stylings of Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress with tower defense elements and the cozy vibes of games such as Spiritfarer, new Steam strategy game Ark of Charon sees you building a city of caretakers atop the back of a young, beast-like World Tree sapling. Guide it safely to its destination to restore balance to a damaged, post-apocalyptic world on the brink of disaster, holding off the evil forces that would see that vision of chaos to its terrible conclusion. When the World Tree withers and dies, humanity goes with it. Fortunately, a new sapling has sprouted…

When it comes to the most iconic colony sims and management-driven strategy games of all time, Rimworld is a name that always stands out. Alongside other classics such as Dwarf Fortress and Banished, Rimworld helped set the groundwork for more modern games including Oxygen Not Included, Frostpunk, and Surviving Mars. It still bears a staggering 98% Steam review score, making it one of the top-rated games on the Valve platform, and now developer Ludeon Studios announces a new horror-themed expansion, Rimworld Anomaly, that’s set to arrive in April. Rimworld Anomaly will add “all manner of monstrous, mysterious, and maddening threats,…
Blending those stylish 2D action platformer boss fights of Hollow Knight and Blasphemous 2 with a captivating dark fantasy world and hand-drawn animation, Saviorless has very much caught my eye ahead of its imminent release date on Steam. Saviorless sets you out as Antar, a child on a quest to become a ‘Savior.’ The journey takes you…
Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno says today’s technology finally lets Capcom realize its vision of furry lion people not present in the 2012 original. The beastren race was meant to be in the first game, but giving characters fur at the time proved to be too much for the hardware. As the Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date draws ever closer, Capcom has outlined how the decade-plus since the original has helped the team overhaul the technical opportunities in the RPG game; now we can get proper highly detailed lion men. You’ve likely seen them in Dragon’s Dogma 2 already, especially…
Battlefield game director Marcus Lehto doesn’t have “anything positive” to say about EA after departing from the publisher’s Ridgeline Games earlier this year. Also known for being a co-creator of the original Halo while at Bungie, Lehto left EA and Ridgeline just as EA announced it was gutting 5% of its workforce alongside the full closure of the studio. Ridgeline Games was formally revealed in 2022, with Lehto set to lead the development of a single-player Battlefield game following Battlefield 2042, with fellow EA studio Ripple Effect working on a bigger Battlefield project. Lehto left EA and the FPS game…
Identifying the definitive CS2 optimized specs requires a serious amount of time and effort, the kind only afforded to companies with the cash, expertise, and power of PGL. With the first Counter-Strike 2 major due to take place shortly, the company has shared what monitor and components will be used in the competition. On the surface, it seems like the simplest solution for PGL would be to slap the best gaming CPU and graphics card on the market into every PC and call it a day. However, the way each game interacts with GPU architectures is different, with Counter-Strike 2 being no exception,…
