Saturday’s UFC event is down to 11 fights. A scheduled 140-pound catchweight bout between Daniel Marcos and Carlos Vera has been scratched from the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 83 due to visa issues on Marcos’ side. Aljamain Sterling will compete before the year wraps up, but he’ll do so in a grappling match. Promotional officials announced on Tuesday that Sterling will face Kevin Dantzler in the main event of Fury Pro Grappling 8, which takes place Dec. 30 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and will stream on UFC Fight Pass. “Funk Master” competes in his second grappling bout since losing the UFC bantamweight title to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292 in August. Sumudaerji has a new opponent for this weekend’s UFC Fight Night event. Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Tim Elliott will step in to face Sumudaerji at UFC Vegas 83, which takes place this Saturday at the UFC APEX. Elliott replaces Allan Nascimento who was forced to withdraw with an injury. The fight will take place at 135 pounds. The bout was first reported by Patrick McCorry, while Ag. Khamzat Chimaev says he’s about to undergo surgery, but also sent a warning to any fighter he could step into the octagon with next. Details surrounding Jamahal Hill’s recent arrest have come to light via a police report. The Kentwood Police Department provided the report to MMA Fighting following the former UFC light heavyweight champion’s arrest on Nov. 27, where Hill was charged with domestic assault for allegedly striking his brother James. According to the report, the UFC fighter and his brother made an agreement for James and his wife to clean Jamahal’s house for $300, which had been left vacant and without electricity, causing food to rot and spoil.
