Tony Ferguson can’t seem to get back in the win column. The one-time interim UFC lightweight champion and winner of The Ultimate Fighter 13 (TUF) tied a promotional record at UFC 296 this past Saturday against Paddy Pimblett. Unfortunately for Ferguson, it wasn’t one he hoped to tie as he now sits alongside BJ Penn with the longest losing streak in UFC history, seven. Pimblett defeated Ferguson via a comfortable unanimous decision that extended his winning streak to seven in converse. Several losses before this last one built speculation that it could be time for “El Cucuy” to call it…

Chael Sonnen is widely credited for ushering in a new era of trash talk in the UFC. His work on the microphone is responsible in part for his three title shots and the inspiration to stars such as Conor McGregor. Sonnen has said — and still says — some of the most outlandish (and glaringly false) things on the microphone. But he will not curse, unless he’s playing a character on film. That is his personal line, as relatively small as it is. As to the lines others cross, Sonnen believes the audience — not the promoters or regulators —…

Dan Hooker is back in action earlier than expected. Currently on the shelf recovering from arm surgery, Hooker is staying busy by making the occasional radio appearance, one of which was highlighted by “The Hangman” demonstrating how dangerous his submission skills can be. Watch the video below. In the clip, Hooker twice forces a tap out of Farr before really cinching it in on the third attempt.…

Leon Edwards’ head coach Dave Lovell isn’t sure who will be next to challenge for the UFC welterweight strap, but he’s throwing a name aside from Belal Muhammad into the mix. “Well, let’s put it real — Belal’s earned his place, hasn’t he?” Lovell said Wednesday on The MMA Hour. “Even though he still hasn’t done what Leon did. He didn’t go through the tribulations Leon did. But you know what? He’s earned himself his contendership. To be honest, if I really had a choice, but I don’t think it will happen, I would like Leon to fight [Gilbert] Burns.…

Devin Haney has his sights set on Ryan Garcia. The former undisputed lightweight and current WBC super lightweight champion confirmed on The MMA Hour on Monday that his and Garcia’s teams are in talks for the two to square off in the near future. Haney is coming off a one-sided title fight win over Regis Prograis, while Garcia recently successfully moved up in weight with a win over Oscar Duarte. An argument could be made that Garcia needs to compete a few more times in his new division before facing Haney, but the champ welcomes Garcia as his next challenger.…

Tony Ferguson still wants to fight. “El Cucuy” suffered a seventh straight loss at UFC 296 this past Saturday, dropping a unanimous decision to Paddy Pimblett in a bout that saw Ferguson show few flashes of his former greatness. He is now tied with B.J. Penn for the longest losing streak in UFC history. On Wednesday, Ferguson posted on social media that despite his recent slump, he does not have plans to retire. The caption is a re-posting of a message Ferguson posted in an Instagram Story, with the notable addition of a hashtag reading #NotRetiringCasuals. Ferguson, 39, has frequently…

Odds for UFC welterweight champ Leon Edwards’ next opponent are out, and Shavkhat Rakhmonov is a bigger threat than Belal Muhammad, according to opening lines. BetOnline.ag has set Edwards as a significant favorite in a potential rematch, with a -400 line implying an 80 percent chance of winning to the +300 Muhammad, whose first meeting with “Rocky” ended in a no-contest due to an eye poke from the then-challenger.
