Following its removal from the game two years ago, Stranger Things will make its way back into Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive announced on Monday.
In celebration of Stranger Things Day, Behaviour confirmed that the world of the hit Netflix series is headed back to the horror game. This includes the return of the Demogorgon as a Killer, Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington into the game as survivors, and the Underground Complex map.
A new trailer for the return of the DLC was also released, which you can see below:
Stranger Things returns following removal in 2021
The world of Stranger Things originally made its way into Dead by Daylight way back in 2019, acting as the thirteenth chapter of DLC for the title. However, in 2021, the Stranger Things map (the Underground Complex map from the Hawkins National Laboratory), was removed, and only players who had previously bought the characters had access to them.
At the time, no explanation was given for the removal. But judging by a statement from Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive Mathieu Côté, it could have been a licensing issue with Netflix.
“We’re thrilled to renew this collaboration with Netflix, to bring back the Stranger Things Chapter, including the Underground Complex Map from the Hawkins National Laboratory, and the iconic Survivor duo composed of Nancy Wheeler, a tough aspiring journalist, and Steve Harrington, a former high school jock with a knack for finding trouble. We hope players who didn’t get to experience Stranger Things will take full advantage of this gaming experience today.”
The Stranger Things Chapter is available to purchase now on all supported platforms.
