Our NFL betting expert offers best betting predictions and picks for the Week 7 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, scheduled to air live at 1 p.m. ET on FOX from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Dallas has won three games in a row against Detroit, with the Lions entering this visit off of a bye week that should solve some of the team’s early injury issues. The Cowboys are expecting quarterback Dak Prescott back in the lineup for the first time since Week 1 and trying to keep pace with undefeated divisional leader Philadelphia.

Cowboys vs. Lions picks and analysis
Dak Prescott makes his return from Sept. 12 thumb surgery and grabs the controls of a Cowboys’ team proven capable of winning with defense. Against the Lions, who the Patriots shut out in a 29-0 loss before the bye week, Dallas might be hesitant to open it up and invite Detroit’s second-ranked scoring offense into a shootout.
While the Lions are nowhere near healthy, top running back, D’Andre Swift is expected to be back from a shoulder injury.
Dak Prescott returns following a few weeks of detailed discussion about his grip strength and spin rate. Accuracy has improved in 10 days of increased throwing, but that doesn’t mean the Cowboys want to jump right into a pass-first approach.
Dak Prescott under 1.5 TD passes
Especially not with Detroit’s 28th-ranked run defense unlikely to stop Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, who’ve combined for 678 rushing yards in six games. What hasn’t been discussed much since Prescott was hurt — the Cowboys scored only three points and he had a miserable showing Week 1 before the thumb injury (14 of 29, one interception, two sacks).
Our Pick: Prescott under 1.5 TD passes

Betting on the NFL?
Ezekiel Elliott over 64.5 rushing yards
Elliott turned in a vintage performance last week with two touchdowns and 81 rushing yards in the Cowboys’ loss to the Eagles. He’s going for his fourth game in a row against Detroit with a score.
While Dallas wants to spread the workload to involve speedster Tony Pollard — over 50 yards from scrimmage in each of the past three games — it’s Elliott who’ll get the work as the second-half closer to limit the Lions’ time of possession. Don’t be shy about betting alternate totals with Elliott in Week 7.
Our Pick: Ezekiel Elliott over 64.5 rushing yards
Amon-Ra St. Brown anytime TD
Amon-Ra St. Brown has become one of the most consistent players in the NFL, producing against No. 1 cornerbacks, zone defenses, blitz schemes, with a backup running back in the lineup, in crunch time, early in games … you get the point.
St. Brown is rested coming off the bye week and has six or more catches and 60 or more yards in nine of the last 10 games. Josh Reynolds has picked up his pace, too, but St. Brown is the play against the Dallas scheme that shifted to surprisingly heavy two-deep coverage.
Pick: Amon-Ra St. Brown anytime TD
